DEBATE: DAVID BECKHAM SHOULD PLAY NO MORE GAMES FOR ENGLAND
DAVID BECKHAM SHOULD PLAY NO MORE GAMES FOR ENGLAND
England needs a player in his position that can go past defenders
Lennon or Bentley for example..
You are assuming that Beckham would continue to play wide on the right. He has expressed a desire to play a more central role for years and has a tendency to drift inside anyway, especially if playing with an attack minded right back.
Also a player that can go past defenders may not then have the ability to deliver a cross.

Hoddle tips Beckham to make nearer 200 caps for England
Glenn Hoddle, the man who gave Beckham the first of his England caps has a plan which could see him continue for England for the next 8 years.
“David Beckham has the ability to continue to play at the highest level until he is 40,” Hoddle said in The Daily Express.
“And he can make the World Cup team in 2010, but I would play him in a completely different role.
“I would like to see him as the deepest of the three in central midfield, where he would the time and space on the ball and where he could be an asset – an asset that England has never had."

Playing in LA will keep him fitter and less likely to burn out.
Playing in LA will mean he is playing at a much easier level of football. This will result in him finding it difficult to step up to international level when he meets up with the other England internationals.
We are always hearing that the problem with the England team is that players have too many matches for their club during the season. By playing for the Galaxy David will remain fresher than if he were involved in the premiership or the highly competetive European leagues. Also home based players are often under pressure due to the club vs. country debate. Beckham is likely to have the full support of his employers in prioritising his international commitments which will maintain his global profile and help them to sell merchandising, season tickets etc.
