DEBATE: IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE AN 'OUT OF BODY' EXPERIENCE?

It’s a phenomenon that’s been accepted as legitimate in the East for thousands of years. In Tibet, it’s called deloh, people who return from the dead and experience being in a state of mind called bardo. They can visit hell sites, suffering sites and paradise realms. They can be accompanied by a deity who protects them and tells them what’s happening. They see the Great Light of Luminosity. The experience of deloh starts with the person first seeing their body and what’s around them. They cannot communicate but can hear people talking. After seeing the Great Light and the travel they are pulled back into their body. This experience sounds incredibly like a Near Death Experience or Out of Body Experience, which highly trained monks can induce through mental exercises. Since the advent of better medical technology in the West to resuscitate patients, the reported number of Near Death Experiences has increased exponentially. So much so that a group of US and British scientists are going to study 1,500 heart attack patients who are clinically dead but brought back to life and see if the so-called out of body experiences they claim to have undergone is genuine.
Against: No. They are just a biological state that the brain produces when the body has lost consciousness.
2. Many people have read about the experiences and describe them to gain attention.
3. Some people report seeing Jesus or whatever deity they believe in. This makes the experience relative, more like a dream-state.
For: Yes. There are countless records of people experiencing seeing the Great White Light across cultures.
2. Scientists have already tested yogis who can induce this state and have confirmed it to be an actual state which can be induced through deep meditation.
3. There are too many clinically dead people who report seeing actual events that they shouldn’t if they are truly “dead”
