DEBATE: UNIVERSITY PROFIT: MONSTROUS BIRTH OR MEASURE OF SUCCESS?
UNIVERSITY PROFIT: MONSTROUS BIRTH OR MEASURE OF SUCCESS?
Are students railroaded into University life?
Is there an adequate bridge in place between secondary/grammar education and University life? Students are under increasing pressure to conform to school expectations and peer dissaprovial of deviation. Conversly, are prospective students simply lazy and naive? Do they ignore the advice that is offered and then claim they were not prepared?
UNIVERSITY PROFIT: MONSTROUS BIRTH OR MEASURE OF SUCCESS?
Universities are not preparing graduates for the world of employment.
Students are being channelled through the university institutions without adequate experience and skills to deal with the world of employment. The pressure to go straight to university from school/tech is causing many graduates to forsake the life skills that full time employment can teach.
Universities can also offer careers services or other skills training in addition to the standard degree courses.
