Nowadays, school has so many rules. Sign in and out of school if you are leaving or arriving. Only Form seven studetns are allowed off school grounds. Wearing the correct uniform. Be prepared for learning. But all these rules are protecting us from the acts of the community outside of school. If you misbehave at school you would get detentions or maybe stood down for a couple of days whereas out in the real world you would get punished in a completely different way. You may get fines, or you may get sent to jail for a certain amount of time. So is school educating us for our future or just refraining us from realising how different outside life is?

With all the laws being passed recently like the anti smacking bill and bars close at 1 am we are getting lost between common sense and utter nonsense. The anti smacking bill has been publisised too much now that the youth have questioned the authority of adults and if an adult so much as touches a child they find it neccessary to accuse the adult of child abuse. These actions by children is partly bad behaviour on the childs side but also it is the governments fault. If the government had not of shown the country that a law of no smacking MIGHT be passed then children wouldnt have the knowledge of the situation. The government should’ve realeased information about the bill just before the decision was made or even after. Not months, nearly years, before they hadn’t even made the slightest agreement on the matter at all. When the law of no bars are open after 1-2 am was considered (this law has been thought of in the southern regions of New Zealand), and still is being considered, it is practically saying that everyone is guilty of misbehaving in bars in such an awful way that new laws have been passed. This is untrue thought because it is nearly impossible that every adult in that area is misbehaving in such an unorderly manner. The law is just protecting us from the thought of a disturbance in the area.

The policy against nuclear power in New Zealand is good and bad. It is protecting us from pollution but it is almost certain that the next world war is going to be nuclear powered and NZ will not be prepared. The policy states that no transportation containing or being powered by nuclear power is permitted into New Zealand. Zew Zealand will be oblitterated if it doesnt begin using nuclear power. Most people will agree that not having nuclear power is doing good for our reputation but it wont be good when countries are declaring war and we dont have any weapons powered by nuclear power. Our country will suffer the consequences of not having any nuclear power by having to resort to becoming allies with the powerful countries which will have the rights to come in our country- with nuclear power. So eventually nuclear power will enter New Zealand so why is the government still disagreeing with the policy being abolished?
